Anti-personnel landmines are one of the worst legacies left behind after armed conflict: they threaten the lives of civilians, impede reconstruction and development work, and are highly costly and arduous to remove even decades after conflict has ended. Although international efforts to stop the use of anti-personnel landmines have been extremely successful, it will still take many years to remove those placed before the ban was in effect. Landmines are hard to detect since most are buried underground or hidden by combatants. If maps are available, they only indicate the locations of minefields and not where each individual mine has been laid. These difficulties in detection are the main challenges for humanitarian demining efforts.

Trademill is proud to be part of the worldwide effort to the reduce costs and speed up the process of anti-personnel landmine clearance. The Minemill ground preparation machine has been developed to soften ground and clear even the thickest vegetation for manual or other demining methods, and to safely detonate mines throughout the ground preparation process thus minimizing the risks for manual deminers. In accordance with international humanitarian demining standards, ground preparation machines are suitable to use as a first method of clearance before manual or dog teams are deployed. One of the earlier models of the Minemill ground preparation machine was used for setting new standards in risk area reduction work, ensuring that areas with possible landmine contamination area identified as uncontaminated or in need of clearance. Risk area reduction work has the potential to speed up the demining process by years in places such as Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Each year Trademill develops newer and better models of the Minemill building on the know-how from previous years. Today, it has become one of the best quality machines manufactured in the medium-flail category. The Minemill is thorough, fast, safe, comfortable to use and easily serviceable.
